It was brutally cold at the lakefront this morning for the Penguin Plunge! I don’t know what, exactly, the ambient temperature was, but the gale-force winds made it just barely endurable for spectators. A lot of strangers were huddled together a lot closer than they might have been at a summer event, just to block the wind and keep just a little bit warmer.
I overheard a few people say that it was the coldest Penguin Plunge that they’d remembered in recent years and that they’d never seen winds like that ever.
Here are a couple of pics: One shows Ric diving in, you can tell it’s him by the socks. The other is Ric coming out of the water.

We had a busy Sharathon again this year. Thanks to everyone who called and sent their pledge cards in. As you know we are primarily listener supported. About 2/3 of our budget needs to be met with donations from our listeners. Please consider helping us if you could. If you have any questions about our finances please call and ask for Ric McClary. God Bless you as you give to The Light Radio Network.

Thanks to those of you who are now sponsoring a child through Compassion International. What a great thing you are doing for the “least of these”.
Darilynn and I are going to be at a Compassion radio advisory board meeting for a couple of days. This is a very busy time of the year for us with our annual sharathon and Operation Christmas Child coming up but we felt that meeting with dozens of other radio broadcasters who are also helping Compassion would be a time of refreshing for us. Networking with these other Christian broadcasters will hopefully bear some fruit as well.
Thanks again for your love and encouragement over the years. God is Good!
Ric

Yes, in spite of these horrid living conditions God is there. He is loving and taking care of these little children through the Body of Christ. Consider becoming a sponsor for one or more children through Compassion International. Check on the Compassion link on this web site for more information.

Our Trans World Radio trip started with a visit to the Huguenot Prison in southern France and to the Protestant Martyrs museum. I have to admit I did not know much about the persecution that was inflicted on the Protestants in France. There is a lot of this history available on line if you care to know more. for example check out this link.

We visited some pretty incredible transmitter sites that broadcast the Gospel through the ministries of Trans World Radio.
North Africa is dominated by the Muslim faith but the message of Jesus Christ is making it’s way to many people through the efforts of Trans World Radio. I hope that will consider helping the Light Radio Network in a project to upgrade a transmitter so it can reach millions more people in North Africa. We will focus on this opportunity on the morning show and throughout the day on June 4th and 5th.
For more pictures of the trip please look at our picture gallery on this web site. May God bless you as you help us reach more people with the Good News of the saving grace of Jesus Christ.
