Since we began putting this concert together, we have been inundated with people offering to help. Aside from the five musical groups, we’ve had two sponsors step up, donations of the sound system, lighting, video filming, still photography, food for the artists and crew, logistical manpower, t-shirts and, of course, the church. We originally thought we’d sell the tickets for the event at a reasonably low price, but now we’ve decided to make this incredible event FREE, and give people an opportunity to make a love offering. What an awesome evening of worship and music it’s going to be! Stay tuned to The Light for more details and I hope to see you there at The Concert for The Light!

Thank you so much for helping us with the Trans World Radio European transmitter upgrade. Over the last couple of days we have heard from a couple dozen of you who have graciously donated finances for the TWR transmitter modification. We figured that with the total upgrade costing about $200,000.00 to reach 15-million more people that is about 1 and 1/3 cents per person. Our listeners have contributed about $3000.00 which will reach 230,000 people. Praise The Lord! Thanks again for your help and God Bless you for giving to The Lord’s work in southern Europe and North Africa.

It’s the first week of June and it’s going to be a busy week! To begin with, today, Sunday, the first, our own Tom Hughes got married! He and Denise “tied the knot” after the church service at Calvary Chapel; we’ll try and get some pics up on the site soon. Tom is our “traffic” guy, he schedules everything that you hear on The Light.

This week, too, on Wednesday and Thursday we’ll have John Summerville in the studio with us during the Good Morning Radio Show and the Light Lunch Hour. John is with Trans World Radio and was with Ric on their recent trip to Morrocco, France and Portugal. We’ll be talking about the ministry that TWR has in the area and how you can help them extend deep into Muslim countries that are hungry for the Gospel message.

Michael CardOn Friday, I’ll be talking with none other than Michael Card during the morning show. Michael is coming to Rutland on the 21st of June for a concert - tune in for details on how you can get tickets. And, speaking of tickets, you’ve no doubt heard that the Robin Mark concert on the 16th at the Church of the Rock in St. Albans has been sold out….well, I’ve got tickets and CDs to give away on the morning show and Ann Roman has some to give away on the afternoon show, so get your dialing fingers limbered up or get your requests in to Ann at annroman1@verizon.net to be eligible for the drawing on Friday’s show.

And, lastly, speaking of e-mails, if you’d like to leave a comment about this blog posting, just click on the “comment” button, but if you want to get in touch with me with a music question or something else, reach me at bob.pierce1@verizon.net.

Oh, and don’t forget to get your tickets to the big Concert For The Light on July 12th in Barre at Hedding United Methodist Church. I was just talking with a couple of the artists that are going to be there and I have a hard time expressing how exciting this event is going to be. Five bands (okay, Steve Lindholm isn’t technically a band, but then nobody else performs in a chicken suit, either) are going to make for an awesome evening of music and worship. TICKETS ARE ON SALE NOW! Get your tickets by calling us at The Light at 866-878-8885, or you can get them at Barre Tile both in Lebanon, NH and Barre, VT, or get them on line at EvangelismTickets.com. Don’t miss this one - it’s gonna be huge - all to support your hometown Christian radio station!
A busy week - and the summer’s just beginning!

God bless.

Our Trans World Radio trip started with a visit to the Huguenot Prison in southern France and to the Protestant Martyrs museum. I have to admit I did not know much about the persecution that was inflicted on the Protestants in France. There is a lot of this history available on line if you care to know more. for example check out this link.

We visited some pretty incredible transmitter sites that broadcast the Gospel through the ministries of Trans World Radio.

North Africa is dominated by the Muslim faith but the message of Jesus Christ is making it’s way to many people through the efforts of Trans World Radio. I hope that will consider helping the Light Radio Network in a project to upgrade a transmitter so it can reach millions more people in North Africa. We will focus on this opportunity on the morning show and throughout the day on June 4th and 5th.

For more pictures of the trip please look at our picture gallery on this web site. May God bless you as you help us reach more people with the Good News of the saving grace of Jesus Christ.

Hangin\' with David PhelpsWhat a night! My wife Stephanie and I spent this past Saturday evening in Barre at David Phelps’ concert and I have to say that I have rarely been so impressed with the singing talent that I saw and heard there that night. He sang a number of familiar songs and several new ones - each was masterful and exciting. I know the word is often over-used, but the one word that comes to mind that describes the event is “awesome,” simply awesome.

In our listening area there are numerous concert opportunities on the horizon: the Isaacs, Godstock, SoulFest and so many others including The Concert for the Light.

Last fall, we began planning The Concert for the Light. I have experienced a humbling outpouring of people volunteering their time, talent and equipment for this event in an effort to support the Light Radio Network - a ministry that they heartily believe in. Four bands: Messenger, Falling Forward, September Rain and CrossRoad along with troubadour Steve Lindholm have all volunteered their musical talents to this effort along with sound by Underoneroof Ministries, lighting by Falling Forward’s lighting crew, logistics by various teen and youth groups and, of course, Hedding United Methodist Church who is letting us use their sanctuary. I would encourage everyone who is reading this message to get their tickets and join us on July 12th at 6:00 for what will be the most genuine, exciting night of worship, celebration and music of the summer! Tickets are just $8.00 each and will be on sale soon (listen for announcements and watch this blog space, too).

I want to thank everyone who tunes in each day to The Light and for your words of encouragement and even criticisms that help us to shape what you hear. God bless you!

Please keep Ric McClary in your prayers during the next couple of weeks. Ric will be visiting Morocco and Portugal on a vision trip for a transmitter upgrade to reach more people in North Africa. For more information about Trans World Radio go to www.twr.org

In early June we will highlight this trip and the ministry of TWR over the Light Radio Network. Please pray about how the Lord might use you to help with this international radio ministry.

Watch this space for riveting messages from morning host, Bob Pierce. In the mean time, catch me live at 6:00 to 9:00 am on The Light!
