
It was brutally cold at the lakefront this morning for the Penguin Plunge! I don’t know what, exactly, the ambient temperature was, but the gale-force winds made it just barely endurable for spectators. A lot of strangers were huddled together a lot closer than they might have been at a summer event, just to block the wind and keep just a little bit warmer.
I overheard a few people say that it was the coldest Penguin Plunge that they’d remembered in recent years and that they’d never seen winds like that ever.
Here are a couple of pics: One shows Ric diving in, you can tell it’s him by the socks. The other is Ric coming out of the water.
