What a night! My wife Stephanie and I spent this past Saturday evening in Barre at David Phelps’ concert and I have to say that I have rarely been so impressed with the singing talent that I saw and heard there that night. He sang a number of familiar songs and several new ones - each was masterful and exciting. I know the word is often over-used, but the one word that comes to mind that describes the event is “awesome,” simply awesome.
In our listening area there are numerous concert opportunities on the horizon: the Isaacs, Godstock, SoulFest and so many others including The Concert for the Light.
Last fall, we began planning The Concert for the Light. I have experienced a humbling outpouring of people volunteering their time, talent and equipment for this event in an effort to support the Light Radio Network - a ministry that they heartily believe in. Four bands: Messenger, Falling Forward, September Rain and CrossRoad along with troubadour Steve Lindholm have all volunteered their musical talents to this effort along with sound by Underoneroof Ministries, lighting by Falling Forward’s lighting crew, logistics by various teen and youth groups and, of course, Hedding United Methodist Church who is letting us use their sanctuary. I would encourage everyone who is reading this message to get their tickets and join us on July 12th at 6:00 for what will be the most genuine, exciting night of worship, celebration and music of the summer! Tickets are just $8.00 each and will be on sale soon (listen for announcements and watch this blog space, too).
I want to thank everyone who tunes in each day to The Light and for your words of encouragement and even criticisms that help us to shape what you hear. God bless you!
