I was in a very rough place today, with no energy, overwhelmed, kind of sad and not sure what to do about this. I usually am all full up with Joy and energy and smiles for everyone (smiling is my favorite), but not today.
a quick decision headed me to a coffee shop before my shift at the hospital. Tis the season for long lines and fighting traffic like a ninja. Finally I ordered the grandest thing on the menu, a venti, quad espresso shot, Caramel Brulée Latte with extra whipped cream. Barista, Colleen then informed me that my drink was covered by a generous soul who left a $50 gift card to cover as many drinks as possible. SNAP! I was out of my funk as I considered the kind gesture of a stranger and how they were filled with joy at the giving of a gift for others. Colleen went on to say, the manager was so touched by the gesture that he gave the gift giver a free drink as well! I was launched into hyperspeed return of Joy realizing that perhaps even my Father in heaven used a simple strangers act to help me remember that when I focus on loving others, my joy is make full! Sadness has to flee when loving God and serving others. Essentially, this is a reset button for my soul to be lifted back up. So whatever your circumstances, focus on the Lord, love others and trust that your Joy will be made full!
Psalm 100:4-5 Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name. For the Lord is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations.~heather
