So, I don’t want to make anyone envious, but, I did just spend a pretty amazing week in Southern California. From Ocean to Desert, Mexican Food to time on the Red Carpet of America’s Got Talent, Medical Conference to Disneyland, Camp Pendleton, of course time with friends and tons of SUN!
The incredible thing is that when we left Vermont, due to unforeseen challenges, we had about $130 in the bank. My inclination was to freak out about the lack of resources, and how in the world were we going to do ANYTHING with NOTHING. Yet, the Father gently spoke to my heart “Heather do you trust me”, well the good church girl answer was YES! But for me it was more like a terrified “ummmmm, yeah (whispered)” not full of grandiose faith and zeal as I typically would. My natural inclination would be to sulk, whine, worry and be miserable due to “lack”, thus making everyone around me miserable as well.
As I agreed with the Father, that He had great plans for us and our “little” would be enough, I started to get excited about what was going to happen on our trip.
We were driving to Boston to catch our flight and Craig, my stable mountain of a man, the hubs, pulled out a gallon jug FILLED with the change he had been dumping for several years. Upon redemption of the contents of the jug, we had $303.20! That was incredible. I laughed and thanked the Lord. I was saving other gift certificates from Christmas as well to meet our need for coffee and sandwiches (no promotional advertising for these chains)
It was a good thing our lodging, air and rentals were already paid for, so there were no challenges there. Ultimately we had every good thing and the Father perpetually showed us His love and delight in His kids.
Every day brought surprises, and glimpses of His glorious creation in the way of waves, sunshine, Desert Mountains, and the people. Oh the people were as diverse as the League of Nations and by day 3 I was speaking remedial Spanish, to the great delight of the restaurant personnel, encouraging me to increase my vocabulary (mostly retained from hours of Dora the Explorer). Little did I know that we would even get comped tickets to Disneyland! We enjoyed different worship styles at 2 churches and bonded as a family.
When we flew home a week later, our hearts were full with experiences, love and guess what? We still had “enough”~heather
Psalms 84:11 For the LORD God is a sun and shield; the LORD bestows favor and honor. No good thing does he withhold from those who walk uprightly.
