Pokémon Go is a crazy fad game, using a smartphone to locate invisible monsters. FOR REAL!
I smile and shake my head. Upon a wee amount of research I found out that the program was created to get lazy kids off their duff during summer holiday and get moving. The irony is that I see kids driven around by their parents and many more adults mindlessly walking around Burlington Church St. staring at a screen. It is kind of hysterical.
I have friends that literally spent money and are wandering to and fro, doing this virtual game.
So the parallel to me is that God placed us on Earth, surrounded by the “unseen” spiritual realm of angels and demons. If we wear the lens of the Word of God, we are much more sensitive to what is unseen. The Father called us to GO into the whole world and bring the Good News or the Gospel and that His Kingdom is at Hand. So our reality is way more awesome than any virtual reality.
Did you know Pokémon Go has a cost? You buy coins to buy items to do things… Real money, real time for imaginary accomplishment.
The Kingdom has a cost. The gift of Salvation in Jesus is Free. Walking a life of loving God and sharing the Gospel will cost everything. Your pride, ego, rights, they all are sacrificed to live a life of love and holiness.
I think I’ll be investing my time, talent and treasure in the Kingdom.
Matthew 28:19-20 New Living Translation
Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”
Disclaimer, my post is not to irritate passionate Pokémon Go participants, just my perspective. ~heather
