Now that I have somewhat collected my thoughts about Orlando…
To many of us, Orlando is a place of dreams, castles, princes, princesses and vacation. A place you go to get away from the bustle of life, a place to vacay and make memories.
My family has gone to Orlando several times to see the mouse and the princesses and of course the medieval dinner theater.
Events in the last week, have demonstrated that Orlando is a place that needs prayer. The name Orlando means “famous land” and I would say that the land in Florida is perfectly encapsulated by that name usually for good, but as of late, Orlando is known for the slaying of a (Christian) musician, club goers and the tragic attack on a two year old by an alligator.
As the events of the last week started stacking up, I felt my heart get heavier and heavier as I considered the pain, the trauma, the victims, the families, first responders and the community as a whole, trying to wrap their collective heads around what’s happened.
My heart is crushed and the heaviness tries to take a place over me, so I can do is reach out to grasp the hand of my Father in heaven to help me deal with my feelings, emotions and how to respond.
Then…..Peace….. As I quiet my saddened heart to hear what the father says. I hear him say “pray, bless, agree with my Spirit for transformation”.
Could anything good come of these events? Yes, there is always an opportunity for God to get the glory in every situation. Actually, these are the kinds of events that can draw us nearer to God and to each other. My heart is still sad but I am praying that the greatest good will come out of these ashes!
For those who would like to bring division, resist. Let’s respond in LOVE, PRAYER, MERCY, COMPASSION & GRACE. Let’s truly care for our neighbors, expressing love and ministering the peace of Christ that is inside of us!
Is anyone crying for help? GOD is listening,
ready to rescue you.
If your heart is broken, you’ll find GOD right there;
if you’re kicked in the gut, he’ll help you catch your breath.
